Play Ludo in Your Browser

Ludo is a race game for two to four players. Each player controls four colored tokens and tries to move every token from the yard, around the shared track and into the center home. This version is designed for quick browser play: choose computer opponents for a solo match, or use local multiplayer when friends are sharing the same screen.

How to Play Ludo

  1. Bring a token into play. Under classic rules, roll a 6 to move a token from the yard to your colored starting square. If Quick Start is enabled, your first token can enter on your first turn with any roll.
  2. Move clockwise. Choose one of your highlighted tokens and move it by the exact number shown on the die.
  3. Capture opponents. Landing on a rival token on an unprotected track square sends that token back to its yard.
  4. Use safe squares. A token on a star-marked or starting square cannot be captured.
  5. Enter your home lane. After completing the shared track, your tokens move along the colored home path.
  6. Finish with the exact roll. A token cannot move beyond home. The first player to bring all four tokens home wins.

Ludo Rules Used in This Game

The default match uses familiar classic rules: a 6 is required to release a token, rolling a 6 grants another turn, captures can grant another turn, protected spaces prevent captures and a token needs an exact roll to reach home. In setup, you can enable Quick Start to let each player release their first token on their first turn without needing a 6, and you can optionally award another turn when a token reaches home. The three-consecutive-sixes rule can also be switched on or off.

Ludo Strategy Tips

Develop more than one token

Moving only one token can make fast progress, but it also gives opponents an obvious target. Bringing multiple tokens into play usually gives you more legal moves and safer choices.

Value captures without ignoring safety

A capture can slow an opponent dramatically, especially when their token is close to home. Before attacking, check whether your token will be exposed on the next turn.

Use protected spaces as staging points

Safe squares are useful places to pause while another token advances. They can also reduce the risk of losing a long run around the board.

Plan exact home rolls

Near the end, several tokens at different distances from home give you more ways to use each roll. Avoid leaving every remaining token waiting for the same difficult number.

Ludo FAQ

How do you play Ludo?

Roll a six to release a token from your yard. Move clockwise by the number rolled, capture opponents on unprotected spaces, and bring all four tokens through your home lane before the other players.

Can I play Ludo against the computer?

Yes. Select Vs Computer in the setup and choose two, three or four total players. The remaining seats are controlled by the computer.

Can two people play Ludo on one device?

Yes. Select Local Players and choose two players. Each person rolls and moves when their color becomes active.

Do you need a 6 to start in Ludo?

Classic mode requires a 6 to release a token. You can also enable Quick Start before the match; this lets each player release their first token on their first turn with any dice roll. Later tokens still require a 6.

What happens when I capture a token?

The captured token returns to its yard. With the default capture-bonus option enabled, the capturing player also gets another roll.

Can a token be captured on a safe square?

No. Safe spaces are marked on the board and include each player's starting square.

Does this Ludo game work on mobile?

Yes. The board scales to phone and tablet screens and all main actions work with touch.
