When it turns amber the egg is bouncing; when it flashes red the egg is riding the lip of the cradle and one more bump will finish the run. Watching that gauge instead of the egg itself is the single fastest way to improve.

Eggy Car Turbo: Tap the Throttle, Do Not Hold It

Holding the throttle down gives you one fixed amount of engine. Three quick taps in a row light the turbo, which roughly doubles engine force and lifts top speed by about half again — and every tap after that keeps it lit. Stop tapping and it fades out after a second or so.

Turbo exists because of one specific problem: long climbs bleed your speed away until the truck crawls and then rolls backwards. The boost carries a climb assist that scales with the gradient, so the steeper the hill, the more of it goes into simply holding your speed instead of adding more. It also presses the chassis down and trims the wheelie, which is what stops all that extra shove from standing the truck on its tail and throwing the egg.

It is not free. The Turbo gauge on the dashboard drains while the boost is lit and refills whenever you are off it. Empty it completely and the engine goes into a short cooldown where no amount of tapping will light it. The habit worth building: spend turbo on the way up, and never on a downhill, where it only buys you a faster crash at the crest.

The three modes are not just a hill-height slider. Each one changes four things at once, and best distances are tracked separately per mode.

• Easy — low rolling hills, a deep cradle with tall walls, an egg that settles almost instantly, and a checkpoint every 150 m. The turbo tank is larger and burns slower, so you can lean on it up every climb. This is where to learn the throttle.
• Hard — steep crests that turn into launch ramps, a shallow cradle lip the egg can ride straight over, a lively egg that keeps bouncing, and 400 m between flags. The tank empties fast and refills slowly, so turbo becomes a resource you ration rather than a button you lean on.
• Medium sits between them and is the run the game is balanced around.

The terrain is generated as you drive, so no two runs are identical. The hills grow both taller and longer with distance, which keeps the gradients drivable while turning every crest into a bigger launch ramp — the danger is airtime, not steepness. Growth continues to roughly 1,200 m before it levels off, and a fixed short ripple runs through the whole road so the surface never goes glassy. The sky moves through dawn, midday, dusk and night on a repeating cycle, which doubles as a rough distance marker: if the stars are out, you are doing well.

There is a genuine optimum speed. Crawling is almost impossible to fail but covers very little ground; flooring the throttle averages far less distance than a steady, moderate cruise because the egg leaves the cradle on the first big landing.
